Commissioned dolls Averill and Robin. Each stands approximately 19 inches tall. They have buried bead joints in the elbows, wrists, knees and ankles. Faces are cloth-covered face masks from an original sculpt. Cloth is then painted with several layers of (brown) Gesso and acrylic paint. Shading is done with pastels. Hair is knitted eyelash yarn.  Both dolls are SOLD

Amity, with detailed ears added. Almost 22 inches tall, Amity is made of 100% cotton muslin, hand-dyed. Her face is colored with colored pencils, a little acrylic paint, and a touch of Micron Pigma pen. She holds a small muslin dolly. Author Joan Arlin Hibbs asked me to design a Godmother doll (and pattern), depicting one of the characters in her book Cinderella's Daughter.  Godmother is about 15 inches tall and is made of dyed woven fabric. Her face is an iron-on transfer, her hair is wool roving. Her fingers are wired, so she can hold her magic wand. Her slippers are removable, dress is not. She has attached ears, and wears star buttons for earrings. SOLD    Pattern available here

Averill, prototype number 1, is a multi-jointed doll made of peach velour, with knitted "Fun Fur" brand eyelash yarn hair. About 19 inches tall, her many joints allow her to be easily posed. She does not stand alone. This doll has wired fingers and buried bead joints. Face is a polymer clay mask with cloth-over, painted. The Averill pattern includes an alternate cloth face (above, Doll No. 255).

Patriotic Amity, made to acknowledge the anniversary of 9/11. About 21 inches tall, this Amity is made of a woven poly/cotton fabric, hand-dyed.  Her hair is a carrot red wig, and her face has been colored with colored pencils and a little acrylic paint. Bartholomew was a challenge doll for the RD&B doll club. Members were given a section of dowel with a knob on one end. The challenge was to use this to make a doll. Holly-Lou, original design for Christmas 2002.  Holly-Lou is a decorative wallhanging made from woven fabric (although could be made from Doesuede or velour). She has a lightly sculpted nose. I used a combination of acrylic paint, colored pencils and Micron Pigma pens for her facial features. Alastair, the Golden Wizard, was inspired by two Christmas ornaments (cornucopia for his hat, icicle for his staff). He's about 19 inches seated. Skin is doesuede, face is needle sculpted. His hair is Tibetan lambswool on the hide. He has chenille stem armature in his fingers, hands and lower arms. He's jointed at the shoulders, elbows and knees. His boots are made of ultrasuede. Alastair was displayed at an Oregon State University exhibit in 2003.  SOLD

This is Florence, my Swinging Senior. She's an original doll created for the IOLCC sponsored "Dimensions in Dollmaking" event at the San Diego Quilt Show. She's all cloth (Springmaid Tremode), with wire armature in her legs and fingers/hands. She has inset eyes and open mouth, using a cloth-over-cloth technique. Her hair is mohair, her shoes are ultrasuede and leather, her swing is oak. Theme for show:  "Life's a trip, Live it up!"   SOLD audrey5.jpg (98674 bytes)
